Being an arborist is far more than getting up in the morning, having a cup of coffee, and looking forward to the next cool tree-climbing adventure. The job can be demanding, so it’s important to stay in shape. Field training, in a sense, is ongoing. There’s always something new to learn or some new challenge that presents itself. Our team has to be mentally and physically ready.3. Training in the science of aboriculture is indispensable. It allows team members to communicated and understand their job at the deepest levels as new information makes itself available.Here’s what you should expect from your arborist:• Liability insurance. This protects you and your property when an arborist is on site performing work.• Of course, your tree surgeon should have the right education and certifications. They should also be able to produce evidence if requested.• Several qualifications include chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting capabilities. It would be impossible to complete some jobs without being able to safely handle a chainsaw.• An arborist should be able to climb trees without a second thought. While they’re airborne, they may also have to perform an aerial rescue for a human or animal.• Felling both small and large trees is also on the list. In addition to pruning, trees need to be felled or removed and replanted on occasion.• Arborists have to also be able to work well with ropes and harnesses. Otherwise, tree climbing would be dangerous, and virtually impossible. This also brings to mind aerial rigging skills.The climber is responsible for doing all the major tree doctoring. On any given day, you can spot an arborist setting the line in a tree with a large slingshot and ascending with the support of a saddle. Some fancy footlocking work and a hitch knot are familiar techniques. The arborist then pulls out his dangling chainsaw and goes to work removing damaged or undesirable limbs.He or she is safety conscious, and aware of the limbs falling. Hardhats are an essential safety element, along with keeping the rope clear of anything that could cut or snag it. Every arborist knows they will get a few scratches and bruises along the way.
